The volume of precipitation is directly proportional to the efforts previously exerted in defying gravity. The more it has lifted off, the harder it eventually pours. Flight is easier and quicker sans baggage, that is why one wonders where all the hard pouring comes from.
Something must be happening up there in the heavens.
